Niagara Falls in a day from NYC

A coach leaves Times Square at 4 a.m., drives about seven hours to Niagara Falls, New York, gives you roughly three hours in the state park and gets you back around midnight. It's for people with one free day in New York and a burning wish to see the falls, who can sleep on a bus.

Niagara Falls in One Day from NYC, Boat Option

About this experience

Niagara Falls is about 400 miles from Manhattan. Amigo Tours does it in one go: be outside the Lids store at Two Times Square before the 4:00 a.m. departure, arrive around 11:00 after a rest stop, and get back between 11 p.m. and midnight. In the park a bilingual guide (English and Spanish) walks you to Prospect Point, the Observation Tower, Luna Island and Terrapin Point. The listing gives about three hours there; guests report two to three.

Read the options before you pay. There are four: Guided Tour + Maid of the Mist, Guided Tour, Guided Tour + AudioGuide, and Only Boat + Self-Guided Audio, which has no coach at all and meets at Prospect Street at 11 a.m. for people already at the falls. The $69 from-price belongs to the cheapest option. Only options with the boat in the name include the Maid of the Mist, and the listing's own photos show the red Canadian boat, which this tour does not ride.

The boat runs from late April to November 8, 2026. The listing is more cautious and says May to October, and that in the off-season the boat is replaced by views from the gorge walk, Terrapin Point or other lookouts, ice permitting. On a winter date you get a long bus ride to look at the falls from above. That can still be lovely (the frozen mist is a sight), but price it as a viewing trip. If you can spare two days, a Buffalo-based tour after a cheap flight is far less tiring.

What guests say

★★★★★

It is a long day but worth it. You are able to sleep on the bus trip to the falls and then again on the return trip. We had plenty of time to see and do everything we wanted to do at the falls. Our guide, Arturo, kept everyone moving and organized.

We left Times Square at 4am in front of the Lids store on 7th ave near W. 47th St. We met Roberto and the trip each way took 7 1/2 hours. We stopped twice each way. [...] You must take the Maid of the Mist tour. It was an humbling experience feeling the power of the falls.

It was nice to have Carlos as a bilingual tour guide. He was knowledgeable about Niagara Falls and very friendly! It was a great tour with a good pace to see the main points and ride the Maid of the Mist.

Next you will get on the charter bus that has WiFi and plugs, which is needed for the 7 hour trip there. [...] The maid of the mist will be the best 15-20 minutes of the day!

Tips before you book

  • Check the option name twice. The $69 from-price is not the boat option, and the boat-only option has no coach.
  • Bring cash for tips. Several guests say the guide asks for gratuities, more than once.
  • Pack a neck pillow, a power bank and a layer: guests report the coach running hot.
  • No passport needed: the tour stays on the US side, and there's no time to cross to Canada anyway.
  • Confirmation comes within 48 hours. Don't build the rest of your week around it until it does.

Frequently asked questions

Does the $69 NYC day trip include the Maid of the Mist?

Not necessarily. The from-price is the cheapest of four options. Only the options with Maid of the Mist in the name include the boat ticket, and only from May to October. Check the option before paying. Our NYC day trip guide compares the choices.

How long do you get at Niagara Falls?

The coach arrives around 11 a.m., and guests report two to three hours in the park before the drive back. The whole day runs about 19 hours, from 4 a.m. to about midnight.

What happens on a winter date?

Maid of the Mist is closed from November 9, 2026, until spring. The listing replaces it with views from the gorge walk, Terrapin Point or other lookouts, depending on ice. You still see the falls, just not from the water.

Do I need a passport?

No. The tour stays in Niagara Falls, New York. Non-US visitors just need whatever already lets them stay in the US.
