Maid of the Mist tickets

A ride on the Maid of the Mist costs $30.25 at the window. Here is when that is all you need, when a tour earns its extra money, and the season dates that decide both.

The Maid of the Mist is one of the cheaper big-name attractions in the country. An adult ticket is $30.25 in 2026, and children 5 and under ride free. Tours that include the boat cost $57 to $190, because they wrap a guide, transport, the Cave of the Winds and line handling around that same $30.25 ticket.

The prices below come from the official Maid of the Mist schedule and pricing page, the Niagara Falls State Park pages and the live Viator listings, checked in October 2026. Tour prices are from-prices and move with the season.

The quick answer

An adult ticket is $30.25, children 6 to 12 pay $19.75 and kids 5 and under ride free, elevator included. Buy online or at the window by the Observation Tower; online tickets are good for any day the boat runs in the season. Tours cost $57 to $190 and add a guide, transport or the Cave of the Winds. The 2026 season ends Sunday, Nov 8, and nobody sells 2027 boat dates yet.

How much are Maid of the Mist tickets in 2026?

$30.25 for adults, $19.75 for children 6 to 12, and free for kids 5 and under with a paying adult. The price covers the elevator down to the boat.

That is the whole price list. There is no senior rate and no family bundle; groups of 20 or more can ask the park for a group rate. The ticket also waives the $1.25 charge for the Prospect Point Observation Tower, which is how you reach the landing anyway.

Where do you buy Maid of the Mist tickets?

On maidofthemist.com, or at the ticket office at the Observation Tower in Niagara Falls State Park, 304 Prospect St. Tours on Viator include the ticket in their price.

The window opens 30 minutes before the first boat and closes 15 minutes before the last one. It takes cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express. Maid of the Mist only endorses tickets sold on its own website and at its counters, so skip the resale sites that mark the ticket up.

A tour is the other route: the operator buys the ticket and hands it to you on the day. You never see a separate boat charge on the guided walk with the boat, the Ultimate USA-side tour or any other tour on this site.

The cheapest guided way aboard: a two-hour walk through the park with a local guide, boat ticket included.

Are online tickets better than buying at the ticket office?

Yes, for flexibility: an online ticket works on any day the boat runs in the 2026 season, while a window ticket is only good on the day you buy it. Neither one skips the boarding line.

Online tickets are not tied to a date or a time. You still exchange the voucher at the ticket booth, and boarding is first-come, first-served for everyone, so an online ticket saves you the purchase queue and nothing more. On a July Saturday that can still be worth it.

The catch this year: online tickets are valid for the 2026 season only, and that season ends on Sunday, Nov 8. Don't buy one now for a spring trip.

Is a Maid of the Mist tour worth it, or should you buy the ticket yourself?

If you are staying in Niagara Falls, New York, and happy on your own, buy the ticket yourself: the boat is 20 minutes and easy to find. A tour pays off when you want the Cave of the Winds, a guide, or a ride from your hotel.

The boat plus the Cave of the Winds costs $53.25 for an adult at summer prices. The tours below charge $57 to $130 on the US side. The difference buys a guide, the queues handled for you and, on some, a pickup.

Guests keep coming back to one point. "Niagara Falls is a very busy place with tourists so having everyone beats having to buy tickets and wait in line", wrote one guest on the combo tour in October 2026. If your time is short, that is what the extra $70 buys.

How much is the Cave of the Winds, and can you buy it online?

$23 for adults and $19 for youth in summer; from Oct 19, 2026 to Mar 31, 2027 the winter rate is $14 and $10. You can't buy it online.

Tickets are sold only at the attraction on Goat Island and at the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Welcome Center, per the state park. They are timed tickets, so buy them early on a busy day. The winter version is the Gorge Trip: the elevator still goes down, but the Hurricane Deck is gone until spring. The Cave of the Winds guide explains the difference.

How much does parking cost at Niagara Falls State Park?

$10 a day at Lot 1, the closest lot to the boat, from Oct 12, 2026 to Mar 31, 2027. In summer it is $10 Monday to Thursday and $15 Friday to Sunday.

  • Lot 1 (333 Prospect St): nearest the Welcome Center and the Maid of the Mist.
  • Lot 2 (15 Goat Island Loop Rd): the one for the Cave of the Winds, same rates.
  • Lot 3 (Three Sisters Islands): $10, charged only on summer weekends and holidays.

Rates are on the park's parking page. Entry to the park itself is free all year. The operator of the guided walk tells its guests that parking near the Hard Rock Cafe meeting point gets expensive on busy days and points them to free parking at the Seneca casino. Tours with hotel pickup take parking off your list.

When does the 2026 season end, and can you buy 2027 tickets?

The last boats sail on Sunday, Nov 8, 2026, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. 2027 tickets are not on sale yet, and the opening date waits on the ice.

From Nov 9 the boat is closed. The park says the spring opening depends on lake ice in Lake Erie; in 2026 the first boat left on Friday, Apr 24. Watch the official site in early spring.

Tours keep running through the winter with a replacement for the boat, usually Journey Behind the Falls on the Canadian side or a gorge walk. Read the replacement line on the listing before you book a winter date. The season closing post lists what each tour swaps in, and the 2027 opening post tracks the spring date.

How long is the wait for the Maid of the Mist?

The ride is 20 minutes and boats leave about every 15 minutes, but midday lines in July and August can eat an hour or more. Take the 9 a.m. boat if you can.

Maid of the Mist added a wait times tool to its website for 2026: click a date and it shows how busy that day usually is. Guests on the guided walk report the same pattern: weekdays and mornings move fast, and "Saturdays end up having long waits in line."

In late October and the first week of November the lines shrink, the hours shorten to 9 to 5 and then 9 to 4, and the gorge gets cold. Bring a warm layer under the poncho.

Skip the ticket line and the guesswork: the guide walks you onto the boat and then round the park.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the Maid of the Mist for a family of four?
